DECEMBER 4TH, 2024

You are being asked to participate in a research study.

The purpose of this study is to understand how dyads interact while in stress-inducing environments. If you decide to participate, you will be asked to play a video game, interact with another participant, and fill out surveys for research purposes. The total time of your participation is expected to last an hour. The risks of participating in this study include emotional distress and potential harm to relationships. The investigator will make every attempt to reduce these risks by reminding participants that they can stop at any time and offering free help services at CAPS. You may directly benefit from participating in this study by understanding how you respond during stressful situations. The results of this study may benefit current literature about dyads and power balances.

Any information collected from you in this study will be stored in a secure location and will not be shared with anyone who does not have appropriate provisions to access the information.

If you have questions about your rights as a research participant, you may contact the Office of Research and Sponsored Programs at ORSPCompliance@csulb.edu or by calling (562) 985-8147.

Signing this document means that you have been informed of all information about the study orally, that the investigator has answered any questions you have about the study, and that you voluntarily agree to participate.
